How Can I Be More Creative?

So… it’s been a while. But I’m back, never fear! Todays blog post is going to be about thinking creatively. For the majority of my very short life on this planet, I’ve only discovered a few creative bones in my body. I can collage a bit and I used to able to make somewhat creative videos. But now, I feel like I’m lacking something. Some sort of creative outlet. I’ve tried ukulele (#justhipsterthings), but I soon came to the realisation that in order to play ukulele, you have to have a good quality uke. Not some shitty $20 one that you buy from Kmart. I’m a teenager, I don’t have $200 to spend on a good quality ukulele which the strings won’t snap the first time I use it. So, I had to cross that one off my creative outlet list.

Then I tried to create creative YouTube videos and make content that no one has ever seen before. Though, every time I come up with a somewhat descent idea, I do a quick google (hmph, innuendo), and it’s already been done before! People of the world, stop being more creative than me! Plus, all I have to film my crappy “creative” videos is an iphone 4 with blue tack stuck to the bottom acting as a makeshift tripod. I’ve also had to cross that one off the list because again, I’m a teenager with very little money and can’t afford a fancy camera (first world problems, am I right laaadddiiieeesss?).

Now, I’m looking for a new creative outlet. Something cheap preferably. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear from you!

Long Time No Blog

I haven’t written a blog post in absolutely ages so I thought today would be the day to create a new one. The last time I posted was at the beginning of the year, it’s now September! I have a lot of catching up to do. So, this weeks blog post would be a life and blog update.

I have decided that I will start posting weekly blog posts. They will be all about my life and what I have been up to, shows I’m liking, my thoughts and opinions on trending topics and just general blabber. I’ve been really into social media recently so I thought to myself “why not start blogging and share my life with strangers on the internet”.  I mean, what could go wrong? Another weekly thing I’m planning on doing is uploading weekly YouTube videos. I’ve been really obsessed with beauty gurus recently and I thought it would be a really cool idea if I started my own YouTube channel. This is my YouTube Channel if you want to visit it: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKxVHqWWlx7gmGDHPP0TdeQ

Now time for more of a general life update. Since my last post I have started year 12 (11th grade), turned 16, been in the school production of Fame the musical, been to my first ever “grown ups party” (you know, the type of party with boys and alcohol), sat my mock exams and participated in the school wearable arts competition. Now that I think about it, I really haven’t done much this year! Any hoo, coming up in my life I will be attending yet another “grown ups party”. This will be my second party and I’m actually really excited. The last party I went to I was a bit nervous about because I had never been to one before, but now that I’m an experienced party-goer, I feel like I’ve got this shizzle. Another major thing that’s coming up for me in exactly 15 days is a school trip to the USA! I’m super duper excited for this trip and I feel so blessed to have such amazing parents that are allowing me to have such a wonderful experience. I’m going to the USA as an English and Media Studies trip with school. We will be going to LA in the first week and I will visit places such as Disney land, Universal Studios and the Warner Brothers Studio. Then the second we will be visiting New York which I am the most excited about! Then after all the wonderfulness that the USA has to offer, I will be on a plane home to New Zealand I will be greeted by wisdom teeth removal (eek!) and end of year exams (double eek!).

Any who, thank you so much for taking time out of your day to read my blog post. Is there anything you’re especially looking forward to this year? If so, let me know in the comments!

A Belated Happy New Year To You!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Well, it’s actually now the 5th of January but it’s never to late for some new year cheer. 2013 was a good year, but i’m hoping 2014 will be even better! This year I’m planning on pushing myself and planning to become a more positive earthling. A good saying I heard from Youtuber BubzBeaty was “Whenever life gives you 10 reasons to frown, give life 100 reasons to make you smile.” I recently got my first job which I find a little tough and stressful at times, and whenever I’m finding super hard, I find 100 reasons why my job will make me smile. So, instead of focusing on the negatives, like I would have done in 2013, I’m focusing on the positives. I hope you have enjoyed your new years, leave me a comment below telling me what your new years resolutions are this year. I would love to know!

Exams are over!

My exams are over now! I can’t exaggerate how happy I am about the fact that I now have 9 weeks of holiday. I had 7 exams in total and my last one was yesterday which was my economics exam. In an economics exam there is a paper on Demand, a paper on Supply and a paper on the Market. I thought Demand and Supply was pretty straight forward. The market paper was a whole different story. It was so illogical that my mind hurt! Any hoo, my plans for the summer are to watch a lot of anime and movies and become the laziest human on the face of the earth. Unfortunately for me  I have to find a job. I have already applied at a few places but I think I’m just a bit young for people to want to hire me. Did anybody else have trouble finding a job as a teen? Leave a comment below telling me if you did.

NCEA level 1- English Exam

On Monday the 11th of November, pretty much every 15- 16 year old teenager will be sitting their NCEA level 1 English exam. Including me! I would say I was about 89.99% prepared (I would be 90% prepared but I don’t think that I am quite there yet. I’ve got 2 days to do some hardcore revision so hopefully by the time thats over I will be 100% ready to go and score some high marks! In the English exams I have to do an essay on novel, an essay on film and an unfamiliar text paper.

A little while ago I took my mock exams. Mock exams are to give you an insight into the real exams, and if you miss your real exam through a sickness or family issue the marks you got in your mocks go towards your final mark. In the english mock exams I got an excellence in my film essay, excellence in unfamiliar text and an achieved in novel. Unfortunately. I didn’t mean to get a low mark in the novel essay but I must have chosen the wrong question.

The novel I have studied this year is Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. This was a really interesting and great book that has inspired me to read more classical books rather than the teenage based, dystopian books I usually gravitate towards. I think I will try reading more of Steinbeck’s material once I have made my way through The Great Gatsby but F Scott Fitzgerald.

The film I studies this year was The Blindside directed by John Lee Hancock. Prior to this year, I had never seen The Blindside. I thought this was a really sweet and motivating movie. One thing that makes me really love this movie is that it was based on a book written by Michael Lewis, and this book was based on his life. Overall it was a really great film to study so a big shout out to my English teacher for picking The Blindside!

If you did your English NCEA level 1, what book and film did you study? I would really be interested to see if any body else has read Of Mice and Men for their exams. Please let me know in the comments!

Great British Bake Off

The Great British Bake Off has ended! And I have to say, I am very glad that Frances won. She was my favourite baker right from the start. The thing I liked about Frances was that she was so creative in her baking deigns, and who cares if the flavors weren’t right all the time (well the judges do) as long as it looks awesome! I think if Frances didn’t win, Ruby should have. I didn’t really like Ruby that much as I thought she was quite grumpy, but she made a good pie and average pretzels in the last round. Lastly, I really liked Kimberly as I thought she was very smily and happy through the whole thing, but I think her pie let her down. As we all know, Mary Berry doesn’t like a soggy bottom. Who do you think should have won GBBO this year?

The Great British Bake Off has actually inspired me to do some more baking of my own. I generally stick with the basics in baking, for example biscuits, cakes or brownies. But I think I might have a go at making something more complicated and prettily designed like Frances. Let me know in the comments if you know any good recipes  and where I can find them!

Beyonce concert- Mrs Carter

Beyonce Concert

Last night I went to my first concert ever and it was pretty amazing. If you can’t already tell from the title, I went to Beyonce! No matter what kind of music you’re into you can’t help but love Beyonce.

What was it like to attend your first concert you may ask. Two words my friend. Breath taking. When I first walked into the Vector Arena seating area, I was surprised at how many people there were. There was literally hundreds or thousands of people crammed under the same roof as Beyonce. I walked in when Stan Walker (the opening act) was on, and I thought that was cool. Now, I just had to wait and see Beyonce. When she came on the bass was so intense it literally shook my insides.

Overall, the concert was an amazing experience, even the parts when you got to watch the drunk people being taken out on gurneys. If you have an an amazing first concert experience please tell me about it in the comments!
